The Cornerstone of the Conservative Movement

by on Sep.24, 2012, under GOP, North Carolina

I am struck by a life recently passed, that of Chuck Heath. His life challenged the common pursuit of political power through his uncommon pursuit of political philosophy. He leaves a shadow in which we all should wish to stand, of political solutions based on considered values, not of win-at-all-costs rhetoric.

Many national politicians are motivated primarily by gaining what they perceive to be power. The problem comes that once achieved there is a vacuum of values from which they have to draw (continue reading…)

And thus a new step…

Following is the Chairman’s report to the Cleveland County Republican Convention on Saturday March 12, 2011. The bulk of the comments differentiate the role of a party officer from that of an activist. This clarification is important, given the District Chairman’s support of a Democrat candidate over a qualified Republican candidate in the 2010 elections, and the subsequent damage done to the local party. As you will read in the postscript, damage to the party continues.

“We began 2010 with several goals. While we did not accomplish our entire mission, none could say that 2010 was not a successful year for the Cleveland County GOP.

“Due to your efforts, and that of others, Senator Burr and Representative Moore (continue reading…)

Still shrugging? You bet!

Great review… http://www.moneyshow.com/investing/blog.asp?aid=Blog-17412

My mom gave me “Shrugged” for my 8th grade summer reading project. Granted, I only read part of it that year, but I’ve read it every year for the past decade. I gave the same copy to my son for his 8th grade reading project, a tradition worth passing along. “Shrugged” should be required reading in high school; Rand’s works are required for my political support.

I think I’m in love Nancy Pelosi.

She is very nearly the perfect modern Democrat. Today in USA Today (which I never read), she explained that the House health care plan (which should be read “coverage”- not “care”) is good, and will be right when passed; she explains that (continue reading…)

The Republican Resurgence…

by on Jul.31, 2009, under GOP, National, North Carolina

After bombing in 2006 and 2008, expect a Republican resurgence in 2010. (How’s that for political insight?) The question is: Is it earned?

Obama’s approval rating is dropping rapidly, Rasmussian shows his current index at -12; and that makes the Democrat controlled Congress look good. The best poll that I’ve seen for Pelosi and Reid’s congress is at -23.

Obama and the liberals, as usual, have overreached. Their leadership offers no leadership for America. They have tried to force their agenda down the throats of Americans. Americans are (continue reading…)

Republicanism in Action?

by on Jul.29, 2009, under GOP, National, North Carolina

There is an often circulated statement within Republican circles, called “I am a Republican Because…” An amended statement follows this post.

But what of this statement, or the party platform for that matter? What relevance do these statements have in today’s GOP; just what does it really mean to be a Republican? (continue reading…)
